Bass Guitar Lesson: Part 1

DONATIONS: http://www.andrewwasson.com/donations.php

MORE LESSONS: http://www.creativeguitarstudio.com/

This video will help six-string guitar players understand how the bass fret board is easy to map using a similar octave concept used by guitarists.

Learn the notes on the neck through geometrical octave shapes that are easy to play, and relate to any note.

  4. Hi, Andrew, I looked on your website after watching this video for the bass handouts you were talking about and I can't seem to find them. I look forward to more bass video's. this was helpful but it would also help me if you would show all these patterns up close and slow them down a little bit. I have a hard time trying to figure out what you are playing at a fast pace. thanks again..

    Hi "iwantagoodnameplease"…

A new bass video will be posted on YouTube Friday Oct. 30, 2009.

This time around, we've got a guest instructor – bassist "Steve Silver," (he has studied with both Victor Wooten & Stu Hamm), to come by the studio and go through a number of right-hand concepts!

    Hope you can tune in!
It's going to be a great video lesson.

    Thanks for watching,
    Andrew W.

    Reply to iwantagoodnameplease,

The effects used are from a Zoom pedal & include chorus, delay, reverb. My bass fingerpicking is a mish-mash of taking my classical guitar training and doing my best at "adapting" it to the bass. No lighter strings required. The main request for this video had to do with mapping the fretboard and learning lines around arpeggios. The 4-string bass is quite a different landscape to most guitarists… hopefully this short series will help end "roots only" bass lines!

    Reply to twinguitarproduction,

Yes, certainly both hands for technique are going to be covered in this series.

    Thanks for watching,
    Andrew W.

  11. I wish I knew how to write better bass lines for my material. I end up just sticking with root notes, but that gets kind of boring.

  12. Andrew, are you a super hero? Seriously though……. you must go out at night and solve crimes or something. You are the greatest human being ever!!! Damn your good at everything you do…….. im seriously jelious and disappointed in myself all at once, i've got some practise to do!!! THANKS FOR THE INSPIRATION !

    Reply to alexdaplayar110,

You are very welcome… And, rest assured you were one of many who have been dying (bugging me) for bass information. Glad to be able to help all of the guitar players out who wanted some of this info!

    Thanks for watching,
    Andrew W.
