This video is a jazz guitar lesson on Bluesette, written by Toots Thielemans. It’s a double length Blues with 24 bars in 3/4 meter. This makes this great jazz standard really interesting. It’s rather fast, but I’ll teach you note for note, slow and easy and I also have a slow tempo version of my Bluesette chord melody arrangement at the end of this guitar lesson.

I tried to make an easy to intermediate version of Bluesette chord melody, but with interesting chord voicings, that don’t sound bland. This is a real, authentic jazz arrangement!

My Bluesette chord melody guitar tutorial features a bunch of nice sounding jazz chords, which I’ll also let you know the theory behind them. I’ll often explain, why I’ve chosen certain chords to go along with the melody and what their function within the song is. I think this kind of information is very helpful, else you would just learn Bluesette chord melody by heart, without the slightest knowledge of what you’re actually doing. As a teacher, that’s really not my goal.

You’ll also learn the Bluesette chord progression with it’s 24 bars, so you’ll understand how it’s made. This applies to many major Blues forms as well.

I’ve made the Bluesette TAB and Backing Tracks, which you can download from one of the links up above.

So with the Bluesette chord melody Tab and the video lesson all in front of you, you have a nice lesson all together. When you’ve finished the basic walk through, you can play along with the Bluesette Backing Track.

I’m glad I can provide you with the full package of Bluesette chord melody jazz guitar lesson and hope you like it. If so, please don’t forget to give me a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel to never miss any of my new ( chord melody ) tutorials.

  9. Thank you Sandra ("The oh so lovely Sandra") for doing this for us! By the way, back in 2009 I had the pleasure of seeing the author of this song ("Toots Thielemans") in concert in an intimate small theater setting. It was wonderful! He had his guitar next to him all evening, but he never played it. He played his "Chromonica" with his trio. Thanks!!

  10. Thank you for introducing me to this song. I didn't know it before, but it sounds great! Since I don't know a single tune in 3/4 I think it's time for me to learn one.
