  1. Well done Al, people like you should be paid by youtube : ) you go to so much effort, well done. As for Carnation, Its one of the greatest english songs of all time and I will learn to play this from you once I have uploaded my Town Called Malice. Ive been a Jam fanatic since their 1st single in 77' and still sing & play their songs everyday.
I met them all a few times and will always be my greatest memories. Finally its lovely to see the comments here saying what a genius Weller was with The Jam.

  2. The Testing Season

Its an incredible song just shows what a genius songwriter Paul Weller is. Thank you very much Alan for the tutorial.

  3. great work, thank you!

  4. Thank you mate, it is a classic 🙂

  5. Great cover, one of the best jam songs if not the best, njoying your videos,

  6. Couldn't agree more. Absolutely perfect lyrics and the melody fits a treat. Absolutely full of despair. Thought Liam Gallagher really did the song justice and his description of Carnation ("It's proper Lucifer, innit!") was absolutely bang on.

  7. Cheers James, I am still using my original Gift songbook from 1982 – though its a little dog-eared now 🙂

  8. just came to check you were doing it the same as me which you are:) a splendid song

  9. Cheers Paul, it is a classic 🙂

  10. One of the tunes that just about saved 'The Gift' as an album and as fresh today as it's always been. Great tutorial but beyond my capabilities at the moment with so many chords changes. Sticking it in my favourites for a rainy day though.

  11. You are welcome 🙂

    Hi there!
Like you I've been a lifelong fan. I took the chords from the original songbook I bought in 1982.
    Best wishes.
    Alan.

  18. Hey man… Thanks for the G6 during the "solo." I couldn't figure that one out.

  19. Classic – great lesson mate!
