DELTA BLUES Guitar Lesson (Fingerstyle)

Tuesday Blues #242 – https://mybgi.net/2IkQJAt

Patton was an innovator and one heck of a guitar player. Called the “Father of the Delta Blues”, he is a key figure in early blues and helped shape that Delta sound.

In this lesson, we’ll study a few bars of DELTA BLUES inspired by elements of his playing.

While a lot of delta blues was in an alternate tuning, today’s lesson is in standard tuning.

  1. You have no idea how much these videos help me out! Thanks 🙂

  2. Thanks for the lesson John, insightful as always. Would love to get your take on a lightnin' Hopkins song, maybe his version of "bring me my shotgun". Also do you think it is absolutely imperative that you stick to the 12 bar regimen if you're playing Solo or is it okay to stray? I notice that alot of old school players seem to, but I wonder if it's something I should stay aware of while I'm playing. ☮️
