How To Make Scales Sound Like Melodies For Improvising & Songwriting for Beginners

5 Stage Method:
1. Change direction at random
2. Keep the rhythm interesting. Unlike rhythm guitar, lead guitar can change rhythm anytime. Stick to a similar theme for best results
3. Only play 3 or 4 notes before pausing- similar to how a singer would pause to breath between phrases
4. Add hammer ons and flick offs for smoother and faster sequence’s
5. Add 2 fret slides on the thinnest 3 strings to add phrasing and a lyrical quality

  5. I have a question for you, Andy. The strings on my guitar lifted up the bridge, and now it's impossible to tune. Do I go and get it fixed, or do I buy a new guitar? (The bridge thing was a manufacturing problem)

  6. Could you maybe do a tutorial for Shorty Don't Wait by A Great Big World? I can't find one anywhere and I love your tutorials. I'd really appreciate it 🙂

  7. Thank you Andy! I'm having a hard time trying to learn these pentatonic scales because I don't like to learn something without seeing how to use it concretely ;-( So thank you for your practical and useful approach!!

  8. Andy, great lesson.  An observation: Your voice is coming through loud and clear, but the guitar playing is not as clear, or loud, as your voice.  When you talk over your playing, I'm having trouble hearing what you're playing….if you could turn up the volume a little on the amplifier, or guitar, so I can hear your playing better.  Thanks.

  9. Hello!  You have  very clear mind !
    Congratulations.
