An acoustic guitar lesson on how to play the live solo to “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac featuring Lindsey Buckingham.

This is such a great solo! Lindsey Buckingham makes it look easy, but it’s actually quite tricky to play! The biggest thing here is that you are playing a melody while maintaining the travis pick which leads to all sorts of cool variations and sounds. It’s very disciplined playing and will take most guys a while to get down, but once you do, it really sounds amazing and is a lot of fun to play. Keeping the meter is also key to making this sound good and is one thing that LB is really good at, his travis pick is like a metronome!

I hope you enjoy the lesson and have fun playing this cool solo.

The guitar I’m playing here is a Taylor 214ce koa deluxe. I really like this guitar, it intonates amazingly well and it’s tone is very balanced. It’s also very easy to play.
The strings are Elixir phosphor bronze 12-53 with nanoweb coating. These strings are a little bit more expensive, but for me they easily last 4-5 times longer than non-coated strings.

Folks may be surprised at how much time and effort goes into creating these videos. If you’re getting something out of the lessons and can afford to contribute to the cause, I’ve setup a PayPal link. If you can’t afford it no worries, but if you can, any amount is appreciated and will help me to continue to make the videos.

  5. You are the only one who is 100% accurate that I have seen. I love your tutorials:) I played with you from the first time I started playing guitar.

  6. Jeff Porcaro Groove

You're a freak dude…to be able to go from AC/DC to Fleetwood Mac, Journey to The Beatles and everything in between. I love how you slow this one down…it has a country feel. Tempo and feel is everything! AMAZING TALENT you are…you act so humble like a gorgeous woman who just has no idea how hot she is.

  7. Finestkind!

  8. Love your videos, beautiful sound and patience, thx!

  9. The best I seen on this song yet…ty !

  10. hey great vid, do you have a tab that you could recommend?

  11. You do some of the best tutorials – at least for the Buckingham stuff (since that's all I have watched). Because of your videos, I can play Landslide and Never Going Back Again well, and feel proficient at the travis style – something that was quite intimidating. Any other songs w/ similarly complex picking that you would recommend?

  12. Thanks for a great lesson.

  13. Mil gracias.

Howdy!  Yours is, without a doubt, one of my favourite channels on the youtubes.FYI, The link to your complete lesson no longer works.  It seems to have been truncated.I found it here…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CYKtIu2oroI definitely agree with you on the Elixir strings.  They make my Taylor 314CE sound way better than my crap playing deserves!  :D
