In this Rape Me guitar lesson video, I will show you all the chords to this fun song off of Nirvana’s In Utero album.

You will need to tune your guitar down one-half step to (Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb) in order to follow along with this lesson and the original recording.

The chords are kept very simple and shouldn’t present much of a problem if you can play basic power chords and bar chords.

The hardest part to learn will be the rhythm strumming in the picking hard. I will try to break that down so you will know how to approach it so you can lock in with the song pretty quickly.

All-in-all, there is really only a couple of different chord progressions to get down. Kurt Cobain played the main chord progression in both a strummed style and arpeggio picking style. I will break each one down in depth.

I hope you guys enjoy learning the highly requested song from Nirvana!

  1. when kurt did this song live, he wouldn't play the full g chord, he would finger the third fret on his sixth string, mute the fifth, and play the fourth and third open. just a little extra for kurt cobain nerds like myself

  12. What I like about Carl is that he pays attention to the details. The riffs, the strumming, etc. He tries to play the song like in the artist's album and I have a lot of respect for that. Sometimes you have to go by ear if it sounds wrong its probably wrong. Not always is everything systematic when everyone goes right go left be different. Thank you Carl
