Now it is time to take a look at the immortal Stevie Ray Vaughan. He is by far my favorite blues guitarist of all time and is also one of the most highly requested artists here at GuitarLessons365. So without further adieu, I present to you “Pride And Joy”.
I remember sitting at home as a teenager, on the couch playing my guitar when the news broke of his untimely death. I was a total rock head so I didn’t really know of his playing but as they showed some concert footage of him playing during the newscast I was just floored. He didn’t play the guitar, he attacked it. To the point that you almost felt sorry for the guitar. To this day I have never seen someone put so much passion into his music.

So in this lesson series we are gonna try to do justice to this classic tune. Before I get any emails, YES the full performance video is in the song’s original tuning of Eb, however I teach the note-for-note lessons in standard tuning so anyone with a locking trem system can still learn the song the way he played it. Take your time piecing every part together, there is a lot of stuff to learn here, but it is a blast to play after you get it all together!! Cheers!!

Lesson Taught by: Carl Brown

  1. Actual lesson starts at 3:15

  2. E flat….or is it D……. Sharp…..

  3. These are the same notes that you would play if you tuned your guitar down a half step correct?

  4. "Excuse me sir, some pussy just fell out your pocket" Eddie Murphy

  5. Izayah Luna-Goddard

Just give it a swash bucklin' kind of a sound. I love it 2:38

  6. I love learning guitar with you man

  7. Fala demais esse cara ….

  8. Thank God I like Van Halen… My floating trem has been in Eb since I got it. Changing the tuning was the first thing I did.

  9. Dude's fingers are like 9" long!

  10. I personally think you should have tuned down a half step for this tutorial, so people could play along with you. It wouldn't be that hard for others to figure out how to do that and we could jam along with you during your lesson. I found it awkward to be out of tune with you during this lesson and I'm sure I'm not alone in this. Just a suggestion for further videos. I want to thank you for taking the time to put these awesome tutorials up for free. You are awesome.

  11. What distortion pedal are you using ? Also, ? are you using a delay ?? Love the lesson. Want to give it a try..
Thanks, like the way you explain it.

  12. how does he play the chorus part so cleanly. its so hard for me to play the notes and upstrokes and mute together without it sounding like a mess.

  13. No way

  14. Andreabernstein999 Bernstein

  15. Crayola Sixstrings

Thank you for teaching in standard tuning. I play classical gas, jobim etc and then switch to blues or pop. Can only travel with one guitar. Can't be doing major re-tuning between songs.

  16. killer tutorial, Thanks for sharing

  17. can do a lesson on cold shot ?

  18. I'm here because I seen a guy in Walmart do this on a cars guitar and it inspired me,Also im a sub
