In the big picture, the physical part of playing guitar can be divided into two big buckets:

1. What we do with our fretting hand.
2. What we do with our picking hand.

Remember, our fretting hand presses down the strings on the fretboard and our picking hand makes the strings ring by using a pick or our fingers.

In Level 1, we’ll work on both buckets.

1. We’ll learn to play chords with our fretting hand.
2. We’ll learn to make the strings ring with our picking hand by strumming with a pick.

So, in Level 1:

• You’ll learn 8 chords: A, C, D, E, G, Ami, Dmi, Emi
• You’ll learn basic strumming
• You’ll learn to put chords together with strumming to play songs
